Every year, the Student Ministries holds a Confirmation class for students who are in 7th grade or higher and have not previously gone through the class. Confirmation is a time for you, your teen, and the church to celebrate their growing faith. It is during Confirmation that your teen will have the opportunity to explore faith questions in depth, make commitments to God and the United Methodist Church, and seek out what it means to be a young woman or young man in Christ. This is a wonderful time for you to take part in your student’s faith. However, it MUST be your student’s decision to participate in this because they need to be ready and understand the reason, process, commitment, and seriousness that a Confirmation class entails.

Confirmation class begins November 7th and lasts into April. We delight in offering this class, as it often becomes a cornerstone to a student’s faith and a meaningful experience in their life; however, we do need to have enough students participate in the class to offer it each year. It is taught on Wednesday evenings during Youth Bible Study (6-7 PM).

To see what topics are covered, click the Schedule & Scope box below. If you are planning on participating or have questions, please don’t contact Philip Brooks at the church office or at Philip@stluke-umc.org.

Meltdown Retreat

MELTDOWN 2019

Meltdown is an annual youth conference that brings together students from all over the southeast for a weekend that will draw them closer to God and to each other. Organized by a team of youth pastors and church workers, Meltdown’s mission is to empower youth groups and their churches by offering a dynamic, inspiring, and challenging worship experience brought through an awesome worship team, speaker, and through a variety of breakout sessions. This year our speaker is Gerald Fadayomi and worship will be led by the awesome Bethany Barr Phillips Band.

WHERE AND WHEN IS MELTDOWN?

This year Meltdown will be Friday, January 25 – Sunday, January 27, 2019. We will leave the church at 5p on Friday and return about 2p on Sunday. Meltdown is held at the: Boardwalk Beach Resort in Panama City Beach, FL.

COST

The cost for the weekend is $160. This includes event ticket, hotel costs, transportation, and Saturday’s breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack, as well as breakfast on Sunday. All students need to eat before they arrive at church on Friday. They will need money for lunch on Sunday. Students have the opportunity to purchase shirts, souvenirs, and snacks as well.

The deposit is $50 and is required by the end of October.
