Esther grew up in Huntsville, Alabama, as a member of Holmes St. UMC. She graduated from UWF in 1993 with a BA in Elementary Education, and completed a paraprofessional certification in Christian Education through the UMC General Board of Higher Education and Ministry in 2010.
Esther received a call to ministry by a literal phone call from the pastor of St. Mark UMC in 1994, who invited her to interview for the Director of Children's Ministries position. After serving part-time for four years, Esther went into children's ministry full-time in 1998, with July 2018 marking her 20th anniversary of ministry at St. Luke UMC.
Esther married Shawn in 1994, and spends her free time stalking their two daughters on social media. For fun, Esther teaches tap dance lessons at a local Christian dance studio and helps run an after-school dance program at Ensley Elementary School. She is passionate about mission work in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho in Lima, Peru, and has traveled there many times over the past 10 years with St. Luke UMC.
Esther's favorite aspects of children's ministry are children's choir,
camping ministry and VBS. Her greatest desire for the children she ministers to is that they know they are loved by the Lord, by Mrs. Esther, and by ALL of the children's ministry volunteers at St. Luke UMC, and that this truth will help lead each child into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
